About MeI am currently a senior undergraduate student at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. I am majoring in Environmental Biology here. I will be attending graduate school next fall to get my Master's in Elementary Education from Arizona State University's Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Yes, you did read that correctly. Before my senior year of undergraduate, I discovered that I had a burning passion to inspire others by teaching and explaining! I came to this realization during my internship as an interpretive intern at Glacier National Park. I love the outdoors and connecting people to it, but I THRIVE off of driving others' curiosity to help them find things they’re passionate about too. And what better way to help people discover their passions than by becoming a teacher? With that in mind, I've set off to teach elementary school (because I adore the unfiltered thrill of discovery and curiosity mini-humans exhibit and would like to help them remain curious and itching for knowledge as they grow older) by the academic calendar and to be an interpretive park ranger (because I also adore the many quirks nature holds and being able to help others see these fascinating oddities while uniting them to the world around us) by summer!
My GoalsIn my next two years, I want to push myself academically by going outside my comfort zones and by performing my best in the classroom when I attend graduate school. I would like to publish at least one of my undergraduate research projects and earn my teaching certificate. I will learn to cook more recipes, hopefully containing lots of vegetables. I want to visit at least three national parks (besides the one I work at for the summer of 2019--shoutout to Glacier National Park!). I will go herping when I can, keeping my love for reptiles and amphibians fierce. When I'm working in the classroom, I want to inspire kids to follow their crazy dreams and ambitions. I'd also like to try at least 3 new activities because you never know what you may like! Most importantly, I want to keep an open-mind, remain happy, stay curious, maintain my sarcastic sense of humor, and support the quirks and aspirations of those around me!
